Southern Utah Artist - About Ilona Terry

I've always had the desire to paint - from the pictures I drew as a young child, to poster designs and artwork for the high school yearbook, to a loving mother's memories captured on canvas. Over the years, I have developed my skills using a variety of media, including pencil, oil, pastels, and watercolor. At Dixie State College, I studied with many instructors whoencouraged me to find my own technique and style. Private instructors Robert Shepherd, Larry Anderson and Lynn Oyler have also been a big support.

My paintings are in private collections from Maryland to California. I've received Best of Show at the Cultural Arts Festival and won the People's Choice Award at Staircase Gallery. I have also won a number of first place ribbons in art contests, including Best of Show at Dixie State College. My art work is featured on the cover of "A Foe Beyond Reach" by Coleen S. James, published by Horizon Books. I enjoy painting full time in our quiet valley - it gives me much inspiration.Young children, cowboys and fairies are my favorite subjects, but I also enjoy painting landscapes, still lives, farm equipment and animals.

Currently, I teach private lessons in my studio.
